McKendree’s Alara Boyd is seeded #3 at 143 in this weekend’s WCWC Nationals.

It’s almost here! The inaugural Cliff Keen WCWC Nationals is going down this weekend in Adrian, Michigan. This event is the NCAA National Invitational as women’s wrestling moves through Emerging Sport Status to being fully sanctioned by the NCAA.

The weight classes are loaded with top-ranked NCAA women. 109 and 130 look to be the deepest, with All-Americans and many women who have hit the top 5 at some point this season up and down the seeds.

155 has four national team members as the top 4 seeds, two of whom won national titles last year. #2 seed Alexandria Glaude of McKendree and #4 seed Jayden Laurent of Lakeland each won 2019 WCWA national championships. #1 seed Alyvia Fiske, who upset Glaude this season at the NWCA National Duals in the NCAA bracket, was the Junior & U23 World Team rep for the United States last year, and also wrestled in Final X at the Senior level. #3 seed Joye Levendusky of McKendree is a Junior National Team Member and was a WCWA All-American last season.

The Godinez-Gonzalez sisters of Simon Fraser, both stars on the Senior level in Canada, look to make noise at 116 and 143, respectively. Also worthy of note from Simon Fraser: Emily Cue, ranked #1 earlier this season, dropped into the 170 weight class from 191.

170 also has U23 bronze winner Kori Bullock of McKendree seeded #1, freshman phenom Yelena Makoyed of North Central at #2, All-American Andrea Sennett of McKendree at #3, and fresh-back-on-the-scene Jessika Rottier of UW-Stevens Point at #4, the 2017 WCWA champion. Rottier could potentially face Cue in the quarterfinal round.
